[HAKURRYUU Magi is back, homehs! excuse me i'm a little high

Before the opening, which, I found all right but not all that catchy, we are given a glimpse of what will happen later in the series. Aladdin is calling forth these huge giant thingies, and a bunch of people I have yet to meet look on in with various expression. There's a also a boy who strangely resembles Alibaba.

We continue Magi from where the anime left off in the first season. Our main characters, Aladdin, Alibaba and Morgiana and their companion in the Dungeon, Hakuryuu are in Sindria, celebrating their victorious conquest of a Dungeon. Their "adventure has ended" but they will soon embark on a new journey.

GAAAH MORIKUBO SHOWTAROOO
While they have their fun, and I enjoy Sharrkan's delightfully refreshing voice (Morikubo Showtaro, Major's Gorou and Hakuouki's Souji) for a little while, we begin to see a darker side to Sinbad unraveling. Well, "dark" as is not evil but just dark.

In a conversation he has later with Aladdin, Sinbad tells him about the other Magi in the world and about Scheherazade, one of the greatest Magi still existing. In the same conversation, he asks the latter to go to Reim as Sindria's Magi and Aladdin replies that he's not the Magi of the country yet. Sinbad smiles, his eyes shadowed and it's not hard to tell that it's not a real smile. He laughs a few seconds later and says that Aladdin's right about that. He leaves Aladdin after that, telling him to enjoy the festival and Aladdin watches as the man walks away, looking almost thoughtful and possibly noticing this strange side to Sinbad -am i reading too much into this omg.

bow down to me, peasant.
Meanwhile, Koubun is reminding Hakuryuu incessantly that it's time for them to return to the Kou Empire and Kougyoku refuses drunkenly, expressing her wishes to stay near Sinbad in Sindria.

Later, she meets Sinbad while at the same time, in the palace, Aladdin goes to Dunya's room. He gallantly leads her up, holding her hand. Sinbad expressed his gratitude to the princess and grabs her close.

To take each other's hands this way...If only this blissful time would last forever...I wish that with all my heart.
I was just ... the whole time Sinbad was saying those sweet yet insincere and wondering if he was really the Sinbad I had come to know and love. It kind of scared me and broke my heart a little though I don't really know how to explain why. Later, as he walls down the corridor of the palace, Jafar joins him, commenting on his actions, saying "You really are evil, aren't you?"

Come on, don't say that. Of course I'm going to capture every card that I can get my hands get on. Since I can see considerable value in her position and power...
Cue sound of my heart breaking.
Jafar, have I become...devious? Lately, whenever I see Alibaba and the others, it all comes back to me. The days when I knew nothing, and raced all over the world.
sdjkfhjdkfhjkdshfjkdshfksdh many tears were shed. well not literally but you know... TT__TT
Yes, I'd say so. You've become a very devious man...But this is the road that you chose yourself.

Jafar affirms his loyalty to Sinbad, saying that he would follow the King wherever he went. the sound of all them shippers screaming.  He tells Sinbad that he has become what he never wanted to be. And Sinbad does not contradict this, only accepting the fact that change is necessary and he must move forward.

Aladdin later talks to Alibaba, saying that Dunya has yet to wake. Alibaba replies that he has not seen her, that it is painful how she reminds him somewhat of Cassim (CASSIIIM TT__TT). His hate for Al Thamen has grown though. Aladdin has a very brief flashback and an unfamiliar man is shown, with what seems like his eventual destruction. Aladdin's face darkens and becomes melancholic and he says that he will not let the wonderful world Ugo sent him to come to and end. His grip on his flute tightens.

The next morning, we see Aladding talking to Yam. He asks her about the place she studied magic in and she nods, saying "Magnostadt Academy". She had been a student there ten years before. Aladdin repeats the name "Magnostadt" thoughtfully. Outside, Kougyoku-hime has this lovestruck blush on her face as she picks flowers, obviously thinking of Sinbad. I am sweatdropping >.< As she is about to pick another one, someone steps on it and she looks up, angered. Alibaba apologises and makes her a wreath of flowers and shows her how to put it on. From the balcony palace, Morgiana watches with a displeased expression on her face.

As she kicks out, Morgiana hears a sound and discovers that Hakuryuu, nearby, is having difficulty using his prosthetic arm. Sinbad and his household have, meanwhile, discovered a weapon that comes from Magnostadt and it has a connection to the Organization. He offers to go and see Dunya, who has awoken but only talks to Aladdin. We zoom in then to Aladdin making Dunya laugh and then his perverted side pops out and Sinbad and Yam walk into one of the most disturbing scenes. I was too embarrassed to even take a screenshot.

And yes, Sinbad was mentally congratulating and being envious of Aladdin.

Of course, Yam wastes no time in whacking Aladdin into next week. Concurrently, Alibaba and Morgiana bump into Hakuryuu again, and the latter has a flashback. He has yet to carry out what he came to do in Sindria. He thanks Alibaba for the time he spent with them. I don't know why, I adore Hakuryuu so much.

Apparently, at the time that there had been a coup d'état, Yam had left Magnostadt. Sinbad tries desperately to convince Dunya that Sindira has no ties with Magnostadt anymore. As he tries to use his lady killer methods on her, his Metal Vessels reject her and it turns out that Dunya still has a fragment of a Dark Metal Vessel embedded in her.

Yam uses her magic to temporarily stop the proliferation but it's not enough to eject the fragment. Sinbad asks Aladdin to help her with the power of a Magi and the boy complies immediately. He calls for Solomon's Wisdom and enters what I perceive to be Dunya's mind. He witnesses all the anger, hate and grief contained in the Dark Magic Vessel and destroys the dark crystals. He manages to rescue the girl but when he returns to consciousness, they realise that her life is now at stake.

Later that night, Aladdin tells Alibaba and Morgiana that he will be going on a new journey alone.

Final Thoughts
This is probably going to be another exciting journey with the cast of Magi, and while Aladdin's perverseness seems to have increased by more than a notch, I'm looking forward to Magonstadt. The animation doesn't seem to have improved much, since there's still a lot disfiguration in facial and bodily proportions but it seems to flow a little more smoothly. I wasn't that excited when I started watching but at some point, my brain probably realised that this is it! this is the sequel i've been waiting for! and I was spazzing as much as I did about Kuroko no Basuke. Also, the hints of Morgiana's feelings for Alibaba are becoming more defined and canon but I suppose Alibaba x Morgiana has always been a canon shipping XD I like the ending more than the opening, there's some really good illustrations and it's beautiful. With that off, I end off this post.

See you next episode!
