Kuroko - I have never been more in love with him.

Kuroko no Basuke's second season takes things higher a notch with a noticeable improvement in animation, the colours, shading, precision of movements and just about everything. We're given a preview to the Generation of Miracles right from the start Akashi omg i am in a love-hate relationship with that guy. Having read the manga before this came out, I already know who the characters are but I'll try to speak like a more clueless person. The opening was great, and while it'll take me a little longer to grown on the opening song "The Other Side", I've already fallen in love with the stunning animation.

We begin with Seirin's basketball team eating out while Kagami struggles eating broccoli with his left hand. Apparently, he's practicing using his left hand. After which the green thing pops out of his chopsticks and right into Number 2's mouth.

How I missed that adorable thing. Kuroko's reaction is just priceless.
The following day is an off day for everyone since Riko insists that they need a break so the first years decide to go for a street basketball competition since it's always Kagami and Kuroko who get to play as starters. With some help from Kiyoshi who gets Riko into agreeing, it's decided. Kagami is not amused when Kiyoshi turns up instead of one of the first years who has conveniently come down with a cold.

WHY. Kagami is not amused.
As they head off for registration, the Seirin team meets Seiho, and the ten of them sit down to eat and um, socialise.

Kagami comments on the third years slacking being dumb as usual and they tell him that the third years are retiring without taking part in the upcoming Winter Cup. He finds out that only the top eight teams from the Inter-High can participate in the Winter Cup and the rest are automatically diqualified. The Seiho team leave soon after, with a promise of taking revenge on Seirin when they get to play. As the Seiho team walks away, one of their first years asks one of the senpai a question - Who Kiyoshi was. The senpai replies that it it wasn't for him, Kiyoshi would be the number one center.
Him?
The center from the Generation of Miracles, Murasakibara Atsushi.
Surprise surprise. Murasakibara-kun will make his appearance hint hint. As Seirin rush to the area where the game is played, delayed because a certain redhead decided he was too hungry to move, they are horrified to find Seiho beaten 51-32. An easy win for the opposing team. Exactly who...?

Kagami notices a familiar figure and his eyes widen in horror. Sunlight glints off the metal ring hanging around the other guys' neck (in case you haven't noticed, it's identical to Kagami's) and Kagami whispers, "Himuro...Tatsuya?"

Himuro's eyes widen slightly before he walks towards Kagami with a kind of smirk-smile. Aaand he begins talking in Engrish and okay, I was like, okay, better than some other things I've heard. Kiyoshi attempts Engrish and Himuro assures him that he talks Japanese, just that he isn't used to it.

And then, he tells them that he isn't really Kagami's friend.
I suppose you could call me his big brother.
WHAAAT. Yes, you guys all just mentally did that.
Now, after the half-episode intersection, it's flashback time!

We go back a few years when Kagami has just begun trying to intergrate himself into American society and is wondering why he's failing so miserably. This is where a chibi Kagami Taiga meets a chibi Himuro Tatsuya for the first time. With more Engrish and an African-American kid whose accent actually sounds American, Kagami is introduced to the world of baseball. Himuro tells Kagami that he needs to have more appeal, show off his strengths. On this note, the former begins teaching Kagami to play basketball and the redhead improves like crazy.  One day when they're walking together, Kagami mentions that if he ever had an older brother, he would be like Himuro and the latter rushes off and buys a pair of rings. The two of them later wear these with chains around their necks.

Can you just see that OTP forming
Kagami and Himuro meet up a few years after they were separated at graduation and the two play against each other in their respective teams until their matches have reached 49-49.

Himuro tells Kagami that if he loses this match, he will stop being Kagami's older brother and Kagami is appropriately horrified.

that is the sound of Kagami being dumped look of a horrified and saddened kid
When they are playing their fiftieth game, Kagami realises that Himuro's arm is injured and with a flashback of his good memories with Himuro, he fails to dunk the ball. Himuro confronts him later with a punch to the face and quite a lot of harsh words. The game had ended in a draw so Himuro, this time, chooses to bet on the ring, claiming that if he loses to Kagami, he will throw it away.

Unfortunately, before they could even start the game, Kagami had to return to Japan. And thus is the story. Himuro tells Kagami that this is the time to fulfill the promise and Kagami is about to protest and whine about it when Number 2 gives him a smack in the face with a very Kuroko-like expession.

Kuroko asks Kagami how he would feel if someone was holding back while he played his beloved baseball and gives the big guy some advice and the redhead agrees with Himuro on having the match.

Also, everyone realises that Himuro never figured out that Kuroko was next to Kagami until he spoke -___-"

At the beginning of the game, right at the moment of the tip-off, someone casually places a sweet on the ball and takes a hold of it?!

Enter Murasakibara Atsushi, former center of the Generation of Miracles and now a student at Yosen High together with Himuro. Kuroko, with the Kuroko face, goes "Murasakibara-kun" and Kagami looks shocked because well, Murasaki-kun is HUGE.  He literally placed a sweet on the freaking ball.

Murasaki-kun turns to Kuroko, going "Kurokocchi" and greets him, saying that he looks as serious as always.

That Kuroko looks so serious he wants to crush him. I bet everyone is like O_O stay away from Kuroko what are you doing omg. And with that, the episode ends.

Me likes the ED do you see that HyuugaxKiyoshi OTP
The next episode will shed some light on what happened between Kiyoshi and Murasaki-kun in middle school and also more of the relationship between Kuroko and Murasaki-kun, I hope. I also want to see more of Hyuuga-senpai.

Final Thoughts

The first episode started out great, and it left me with enough suspense to scream just from the hytseria of having the second season released. The animation, as I've already gushed about, is much, much better and more fluid. The Engrish was all right [seriously, even Beck did better] but some parts were very realistic so it's not too much to pick on. the sexual tension between the male characters in this show, and as always as in sports anime, is very high. I'm pretty excited to see the next episode even when I know what's going to happen, simply because the seiyuus make the experience all the more amazing (waiting for Hiroshi Kamiya omg omg Aka-kun's seiyuu). So far, the anime's living up to expectations and I suppose it'll follow the manga very closely.

Until next week, ciao ciao!
